We are thrilled to announce Into The Shadow 5.0, our very own homegrown festival celebrating the almighty Riff! The saga continues, so get ready for an early start of your festivalseason. Three days of metal, stoner, desert, space, acid, kraut, doom, post and heavy psychedelic rock.
On this fifth anniversary we dive deep into the past, present and future of the almighty Riff. Over the weekend we present an eclectic mix of bands ranging from extraterestrial spacerock and hendrixian motör funk to kick-ass metal and everything in between. Beware, cause the blues is lurking from the shadow and never far away on this edition.
The Bird Experience (NL)
THE BIRD EXPERIENCE is raw desire set to rhythm, sweat slick on skin, the sting of whiskey on a split lip. Born from the mind of composer, singer, and harmonicist Mees Vullings (known for his work with the progressive psychedelic rock band Heath), it’s a mix of blues soaked in swamp water and psychedelia hallucinating under circus lights with the reckless spirit of jazz always riding shotgun.
Their upcoming self-titled debut album struts with a sexy, untamed swagger and delivers a wide range, from carnivalistic back-alley blues to maniacal anti-capitalist slow burns to catchy, foot-tappin’ funk, while maintaining an overarching, distinctive sound. The harmonica isn’t a nostalgic throwback here. It’s a centerpiece, sometimes wielded like a weapon, other times like a lover’s voice. This is music that bares its teeth with a switchblade smile and then kisses you slowly. Classy as a crushed velvet glove, dirty as the floor it lands on.
Glowsun (FR)
GLOWSUN is a three piece psychedelic doom band from Marchiennes France. After a hiatus the band returns to the stage with a new line-up. Consisting of founding guitarist/vocalist and renowned graphic artist Johan Jaccob, together with long term friend Yann Duivier on drums, who was the drummer of Glowsun’s predecessor Blue Curse and François Hannecart on bass. The highly anticipated fourth Glowsun album is in the making and will be a starting point for a new chapter in the band’s rich history.
Death Caps (NL)
DEATH CAPS is a garage punkrock three piece from the gutters of Eindhoven, the rock capital of the Netherlands. Ripping, energetic rock music with a solid 70’s sound. A raw, lived-in sound of amplifiers on the verge of explosion, a mid-range distorted bass and indomitable thundering drums reminiscent of early rock. Simple, catchy songs played loud, in true power-trio style.
