Sham 69 was formed in 1975 with the members Jimmy Pursey, Neil Harris, Albie Slider, Billy Bostik and Johnny Goodfornothing. The band played at many of the famous punk hotspots during this time, performing fan favourites such as âBorstal Breakoutâ and âHey Little Rich Boyâ.
Thanks to the popularity of punk rock in the UK at the time, Sham 69 scored a string of five consecutive top 20 singles with âAngels With Dirty Facesâ, âIf The Kids Are Unitedâ, âHurry Up Harryâ, âQuestions And Answersâ and âHersham Boysâ, some of which were performed on Top of the Pops. The bandâs first three albums, âTell Us The Truthâ, âThatâs Lifeâ and âThe Adventures Of The Hersham Boysâ charted at numbers 25, 27 and 8 respectively.
The current line-up consists of Ian Whitewood, Tim V, Paul Brightman and newest recruit, Tom Austin-Morgan on bass, and is gearing up for the future. This line-up plays with real purpose, belief and positivity â something it feels is needed in these post-pandemic times.
Eindhovensâ finest garage rock ân roll band 69 Charger started at the end of the last century with the release of their first single âIâve got a feelingâ – a song about a feeling that good things were to come, and that certainly became reality. The band played hundreds of shows for excited crowds in the Netherlands and Europe, released three albums and a handful of 7â and 10â records. They shared the stage with kindred spirits like the Dwarves, 9 Pound Hammer, Cosmic Psychos, Supersuckers, Zeke, and many more.
Now, after a 15 year long hiatus, 69 Charger is back. The band is featured on the soundtrack of the Netflix movie White Noise – to be released worldwide in December â22, by director Noah Baumbach and starring Adam Driver.
