One weekend in 2003, in Oslo, Norway, a bunch of goons became bored with the selection of party music that was available to them, and, helped along by the consumption of large quantities of alcohol, the soon-to-be members of TrollfesT decided to take matters into their own hands. One website and six songs later, a German label, which at the time was called Solistium, recognised the potential in the madness and got in touch. With the immortal words “what the heck, let’s give it a go” TrollfesT agreed to a deal and started writing new material. By 2005 “Willkommen Folk tell Drekka Fest!!” hit the streets. And life as we know it was never the same again.
During the first years, TrollfesT never actually played live, but nevertheless the two albums succeeded in making the band a sought after addition to festivals, and the first foray beyond the planning stage occurred in 2007 as one of the headlining bands at the Ninth Barther Metal Open Air Festival. TrollfesT then went on to headline and play various festivals and concerts around Europe during 2007/08 including the Ragnarök and Riedfest festivals.
January 2009 saw the release of TrollfesT’s third studio album “Villanden”. A much-anticipated underground album according to feedback from the fans, “Villanden” was quickly acknowledged as one of the craziest albums to have been released in a very long time, mixing, as it did, European Balkan music with extreme metal, and spread rapidly through the viral networks like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook.
So how would anyone, in their right mind, or otherwise, dare to define TrollfesT? The closest you would come is probably True Norwegian Balkan Black Metal, but even then you would need to include influences from lots more genres. The best way to put it is that this band is all about alcohol, joy and music, three subjects that draw in fans from all ages and genres, eager to listen to TrollfesT’s records and witness the exuberant and skilled live performances.
The Black Forest – marked by mystical landscapes, its spirit rules the southwestern German souls. Its wealth of brute power and mightiness led a dark horde to the decision to embody the beauty of the Black Forest in a musical way, back in 2004. Hitting the stages in 2007, a decent public attention was attracted and after the publication of the debut EP "Wiege der Finsternis" and the debut album "Weltenkraft", the horde found a new home at the German record label Einheit Produktionen. The second studio album "...zum Tode hin" was introduced to the public in early 2009 and could deeply satisfy a wide range of different
It's the year 2012 – to date, a frightening large amount of knuckles of pork along with a greatly exaggerated quantity of Schnaps was consumed and countless breathtaking concerts were performed. With a new singer at the front and a third fully produced studio album, the band signed a contract with the Austrian label Napalm Records. "Rastlos" represents the new status of Finsterforst and exceeds everything that has been done before. The era of Black Forest Metal has begun!
CRYPTIC FOREST (D)
The year is 2003 A.D. - in the dark depths of the mystic Black Forest, the one-man-project Cryptic Forest is founded. The protagonist himself has only vague memories of the times when he dedicated himself to the rather rough realms of Black Metal. After quite some time and many compositional attempts, the decision to get a real band together materialized...
... however this plan could only be put into practice after several years. Step by step the line-up was completed, resulting in the release of the first EP in 2011. "Dawn of the Eclipse" featured two extremely long tracks, which offer a glimpse into the artistic past of this cryptic institution from the Black Forest. More time passed – more hate was generated! The arrival of a new vocalist fused these factors to a certain influence on the music ... After the five-piece finally managed to brutally smash a few stages, the horde once again entered the chambers of the Iguana Studios in 2012 to produce their eagerly awaited debut album. "Ystyr" beats up the world of Metal with all of its hate and clearly defined violence!
Druantia was founded at the end of 2010 by Lotte, who plays guitar and flute, and also takes care of some backing vocals. Several people were attracted to complete the line-up, including Nick, the current guitar player. After a lot of quick lineup changes, Druantia finally found a drummer and a singer, Mitchell and Rik. Not soon after that Hans joined our ranks to complete us with his bassguitar-skills. With this steady line-up, we are ready to hit the stage, ready to party!
The name of the band, Druantia, is derived from an ancient pagan goddess. She is the queen of the Druids, and mostly associated with trees. She rules fertility, protection, trees, knowledge and creativity.
The music of Druantia is easily described as Folk metal. The flute plays a major part in the music, which provides an authentic element in the harsh, epic metal sounds. With lyrical themes like pagan history, war, and the good ol’ drinking songs, Druantia is ready to party with pounding riffs, brutal vocals, blasting drums and authentic flute melodies.
